The Swedish Agency for Higher Education Services (VHS) is a fee-financed government authority under the Ministry of Education and Research that provides services to universities and university colleges as well as other government agencies.
Our primary directive is assisting Swedish higher education institutions with the admissions process through our online application service. We give information and support to applicants from both Sweden and abroad, and provide evaluation of foreign upper secondary school credentials to Swedish residents. In addition, we develop and administer IT systems.
Our agency has three main areas of operation: coordination of the admission process for higher education courses and programmes; evaluation of foreign upper secondary school qualifications; and system administration. We have approximately 120 employees.
It is our responsibility to create a positive dialog between not only VHS and our customers (the Swedish universities and university colleges) but also with our applicants.
